The classes cover baseball/softball rules, umpiring mechanics, and game management.

In March there may be a few additional outdoor training sessions to refine your mechanics under live game conditions.

The umpiring assignments will be for the Prospect Park Baseball Association based out of Prospect Park in Park Slope, Brooklyn and other nearby neighborhood fields.

You will need to purchase umpire equipment. You can choose your own supplier or, if you prefer, our vendor offers a cost-efficient starter package. You must also purchase a pair of heather grey umpire pants which you may purchase from our vendor or elsewhere. Either way, you will also need to purchase an umpire shirt and a hat from us (about $60). Payment plans are available for these purchases for qualified new umpires.

With this training, many of our umpires go on to umpire games for the PSAL and other baseball organizations.
