Stan Lehman

President 2002-2007
Vice President 1994-2001

Stan Lehman was involved with the PPBA since its inception & was crucial to its forming in 1994.
Working closely with the member organizations, Stan forged strong working alliances with the Parks
Department to get the Long Meadow field much needed maintenance, the re-grading of the Parks
fields 1 & 2, and the naming of the Park field #2 for longtime Umpire John Cortese. Stan had a
passion for youth baseball and adamantly applied fairness among all the PPBA organizations,
regardless of their size. He was instrumental in making the PPBA the first youth league in NYC to
move to use All-Wood bats in all age divisions. Under Stan’s leadership the PPBA grew to be one of
the largest youth baseball leagues in NYC.

Tony Berger

Director 2009-2024

For over 15 years, Tony Berger mentored and guided thousands of kids as Executive Director of Camp Friendship and Director of the PPBA.  Having been a beneficiary of those programs while growing up, he would never let children who played baseball worry about cost.  He was known to take kids and their parents shopping to buy equipment and then, quietly, pick up the tab. He never wanted them to feel like they didn’t have access to play or like they were getting charity.  He wanted the kids to feel like a community that could rely on one another and Camp Friendship.

Tom Larkin
Director 2008-2013 and 2019-2020,
Secretary 2008-2017, 2019,Treasurer 2018

In the early 1980’s Tom was appointed president of the Holy Name Father’s Guild and began his service as a board member and in various officer positions of the Prospect Park Baseball Association until his passing in 2020 from Covid. Under his leadership, the Holy Name Father’s Guild provided basketball, baseball, soccer, swimming, flag football, dodgeball, and softball programs to more than 500 children annually.  His calm demeanor, great sense of humor, and dedication to the children helped to mold the PPBA into the organization it is today.
